Now, I try to write a little bit. This is because I often use Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) to teach, and I feel I have no time to create my own simulations. MOC has already given simulations based on the scenario by Microsoft. and it takes time to create my own.
Hope to share things with friends..

Hope so..

Warning Event Log After Install Active Directory Certificate Services
This post only explain to you and myself that the warning appears on the Event Viewer, every time you install an ADCS (Active Directory Certificate Services), is not a problem. Sometimes we assume that a warning event log may indicate a problem. This warning also remind us to verify whether the CA Certificate has been published correctly in the Active Directory or not.
The warning event log:

The verification step was explained on the detail information of the log:

It’s not a problem. The verification of the CA Certificate completed successfully.

Network Interface Problems when Implementing Hyper-V
If you have already read the article with title: Wierd Network Interface on Windows Server 2008. I will add more information here. So this post explained more on how to troubleshoot the problem with the network interface in the previous post.
Actually that’s would not happened if I did not implement Hyper-V. After I create a virtual network interface that use external network interface, some wierd events happened, such as you can see from the pictures in the previous post.
What I did before by disabling and enabling the network interface that links to the virtual network interface used by Hyper-V may create another problem. OK, it fixed my problem with network connection, but make the connections to virtual machines become unstable, often disconnected and need to reconnect again. After some troubleshooting, I found other wierd things deal with Hyper-V.
Another problem:
I don’t know how it can happen. The MAC address of the physical network interface is the same with the MAC address of the virtual network interface created by Hyper-V Manager. I examined the problems when doing ‘ipconfig /all’.
To solve the problems with unstable connections to virtual machines, I should disable and enable the virtual network interface created by Hyper-V. In the previous picture, it was named as ‘Local Area Connection 4′. The problem may also because of the virtual network interface failed to get the IP Address automatically from the DHCP Server. Sometimes I didn’t get problems when I found that the name of physical network interface does not appear in the output of ‘ipconfig’. So I guess, the connection problems to virtual machines was actually caused by failures in having the automatic TCP/IP configuration or the ip address.

Some Links to STOP Errors and the Meaning
I got BSoD / STOP Errors / Blue Screens today about 6x. I don’t see that updating the BIOS few days ago solve this problems. So far I’m still trying to enjoy running Windows Server 2008 and I hope to use it more times in my laptop.
Here I share some links if you want to learn some STOP error messages and the meaning:

Wierd Network Interface on Windows Server 2008
Maybe if you don’t install Windows Server 2008 on your laptop where there is no fixed LAN connection, you would not have this experience. It’s wierd, because it does not always happen (intermittent problems). Driver problems? Out of luck, Asus does not have 64-bit driver update for Asus F9SG series. When I turned on my laptop, I did not plug the LAN cable. Then the Local Area Connection does not appear when I verified by using ipconfig utility.

This problem can be resolved easily by disabling and enabling again the Network Interface.

After I disabled and enabled the Network Interface:

For comparison, I insert the ipconfig output from another computer than runs Windows XP:

You see from the picture above that on Windows XP, the LAN interface does not disappear. It give better information that the Media disconnected.
Host Name Resolution
If you want to know in-depth about Host Name Resolution, check this link:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727005.aspx
In this post, I don’t tell you about what host name resolution is. The link above will help you to understand. This article just want to show something that I wondered. Why host name resolution on Windows Server 2008 behaves like this. When I have host name resolution problem, I tested the connectivity to the dns server by using nslookup. The output was:

So I wondered why the computer does not try the other DNS Server when the DNS Server with ip address of 202.73.99.8 failed to respond. My Windows Server 2008 computer only try to query one DNS Server. I show you the IPCONFIG /ALL output:

If you notice the picture above, you can see that the network interface has been configured to use DNS Servers with ip address of 202.73.99.8 and 61.247.0.8 (the dns servers from firstmedia – FastNet)
So I compared with the nslookup output from a different computer that run Windows XP. The result on Windows XP like this:

From the picture above, you see that the Windows XP computer try to do queries on both DNS Servers.
The question is:
Why Windows Server 2008 does not do the best effort by quering both DNS Servers when having host name resolution problems?

No BSoD Today
After a lot of bluescreens for about 3 days, today I don’t get even one. Maybe the BIOS update helps.
In the previous post, I took a real screenshoot of the blue screen by using my camera phone. Now I insert the picture from
Faultwire.com: Modification of system code or a critical…
STOP: 0×00000109
http://www.faultwire.com/solutions_bsod/Modification_of_system_code_or_a_critical_data_0x00000109-1262.html
that discuss this problem and give solutions.
May be you find it’s interesting to know what to do if you find a problem and how to do troubleshooting with problems are related to hardware, hardware drivers, etc. Find the solutions from the link above, and here is the example picture of the BSOD that I have experienced.

I sometimes use the word BSoD, because many articles say so. BSoD is the abbreviation for Blue Screen of Death.
Definitions from Wikipedia.com, Blue Screen of Death
The Blue Screen of Death (also known as a stop error, BSoD, bluescreen, or Blue Screen of Doom) is a term used for the error screen displayed by some operating systems, most notably Microsoft Windows, after encountering a critical system error which can cause the system to shut down to prevent damage.

Media Players and Lyrics
I do not review the features of these media players. I just tested the media players that are compatible to run in Windows 64-bit. I used Windows Server 2008 64-bit.
For the lyrics, I used MiniLyrics that support many wellknown media players.
